In order to maximize power gains, our Front Mounted Intercooler is highly recommended for users that see very hot outside temperatures during the year. A cat back or downpipe back exhaust system is required for safe performance. We have spent literally hundreds of hours street and track testing, in addition to hundreds of hours dyno testing, in order to fine tune this kit's performance and verify its reliability. At the heart of this kit is a GT28R Garrett turbo, chosen to provide an optimum balance of low and high end power when coupled to the relatively small 1.8 liter engine. Engine size must be taken into account when choosing turbo size, and while a larger GT turbo can produce higher horsepower numbers, it comes at the expense of low end power (torque). We wanted to provide a kit that was enjoyable to drive everyday as well as at the dragstrip or roadcourse. Utilizing a GT28R turbo also allowed us to reuse the stock exhaust manifold without choking exhaust flow. Reusing the stock manifold is one of the main reasons that we are able to provide such a powerful kit at such a reasonable price. Installation of this kit is quite simple, with many proprietary parts to interface the GT28R turbo as seamlessly as possible.
